The area of Banff, Lake Louise (Alberta) and Field (B.C.)

For three nights we stayed at the Cathedral Mountain Lodge in Field B.C. This village is located about 25 kilometers westward of Lake Louise and 60 kilometers of Banff.

Unfortunately our first day in this area brought us some very bad weather. It rained the whole day. Because we had no Wifi or TV in our cabin, there was not much to do. So we decided to visit Banff and checked out the shopping facilities. Unluckely this village consists mostly as well as Jasper did, of gift shops.

At least we could fix a tee-time at the Fairmont Golf Tunnel Mountain Course for Friday.

A view of our cabin. A fireplace kept us warm at night because the temperatures felt below zero degrees.
Our accomodation by night - quite romantic!

On thursday we spent the day in Golden B.C.. This is a beautiful town situated on Kicking Horse Mountain, which is also a nice place to stay in winter and do some skiing. There we checked also the golf course at the local golf club.

We played with Kim, a local teacher, who's a club member and told us interesting stories of the area and what can happen during a round of golf. For example she told us that during a tournament a bear sat in a bunker next to the putting-green, while she had to hole in. ;-) how scary...

It could have happened like that ;-)
As we finished our round of golf, a greenkeeper told us, that five minutes before we arrived there was a bear crossing the way of our last hole. That was our chance...

We decided to chase this bear and drove the whole mountain up and down. Unfortunately we didn't succeed as we hoped. Hhhhmmm... but could take these nice shoots (see pictures below) of this beautiful surrounding.

Our day ended with a delicious dinner at www.cedarhousechalets.com which was recommended by Kim. Thanks again for your company and your golf-tips! ;-)

A very cold morning at the Fairmont Golf Course in Banff...

It was minus 2 degrees when we started practicing on the driving range. (Unfortunately Sindy has only short trousers to play some golf) :-(( So it couldn't get any worse...

The view was once more incredible...

As we couldn't play on the 18 hole course due to an event going on that day, we took our chances on the 9 hole Tunnel Mountain Course... As we finished our round and were ready to leave for Vernon, we recognized that this event was hold by the New York Rangers who held their trainig camp in Banff.

Afterwards we knew why the participants of the golf event, we met in the morning in the club house, behaved like real hockey-stars.

This is the instrument of evidence....
That's all for today. We've got now 22:42 and have to get up on 2.45 in the morning to catch our flight to DENVER.

Before we will keep you updated what's up in the US, we gladly tell you about our very highlight on our last days we spent in B.C.
