Our time in Las Vegas...

After two days of staying at the Wynn Resort we changed our accommodation north way to the Aria Hotel. Towards 5 p.m. we were ready to check-in, but the staff unfortunately not. ;-) There was a huge queue we had to stand in for about half an hour after we got the keys to our suite.

Our room was situated on the 37th floor in the building standing on the right at the back.

The lobby was appropriate to the season very nice prepared with all this colourful foliages.

As soon as we entered the room, some amazing views awaited us… On the one side we saw directly  to the main street called “Strip” and on the other side we could see the outback of this crazy city.

The entrance on one of our two bathrooms ;-)

What an amazing view from the whirlpool (see on the left)

Our room was about 900 square feets and was equipped with three different TV’s, two bathrooms and a whirlpool with a view directly to the Strip, how freaky is that? We spent some awesome three days in our little apartment.

Compared to the Wynn Resort we stayed before, it was annoying to see how this huge and very overcrowded hotel couldn’t handle the amount of people. We had to wait regularly about an hour to get some breakfast in the morning. There were two different Café’s available in the hotel as well as an obligate Starbucks. In a way they couldn’t manage it that the hotel guests get their foods earlier. That’s quite sad because of the really well food they served us.

That’s enough from our hotel experiences in Las Vegas. Let us tell you what we experienced these five days in the Sin City:

We went on a show from David Spade. He’s a comedian and entertained us very well. In the first place there were two other comedians, one from Hawai’i which made a lot of jokes about Asian people and the other looked like “Fred Feuerstein”. His appearance was just funny and in addition to his jokes, the whole audience couldn’t stop laughing.

On another day we made a trip to see the Hoover Dam with his interesting history at Lake Mead.
Hoover Dam is one of the nation’s most successful public works built around the 1930s. As we visited the museum we learned how hard the people worked and how difficult the construction of such a project was.

Hoover Dam in the background on both pictures ;-)

This bridge near Hoover Dam wasn’t build long ago so the main traffic doesn't cross the dam anymore.

Another day we had a lot of fun by exploring all the different hotels. At the New York New York we took the chance to ride the freaky Roller Coaster… What a ride!! Below you get some impressions… ;-)

On Saturday, the last day of our Vegas time, we visited Grand Canyon with the Papillon Helicoptertour Company. That was soooo much fun and very beautiful to see the landscapes of the middle-west from the sky. Our guide Nigel was also a jolly person and made it a unique experience for us. As soon as we left the ground he turned off the song from Top Gun – highway to the danger zone – and we felt like being in a dream.

Ready to take off, although Sindy had some doubts about this flight...

Thank's god this part of the Canyon belonged to the Indian People, otherwise it would have been closed because of this stupid shutdown :-/

We landed in the middle of nowhere (see picture above) and got this picnic box with a glas of Champagne. ;-)
If you would feel a little bit like how we felt on our helicopter flight, turn your loudspeakers on and start the first link Danger Zone and afterwards you can see the video which we uploaded on youtube. Have fun!!

The last night we wanted to do some crazy stuff and decided to go to Fremont Street. We ate at Oscar’s Steakhouse at the Plazza. A lot of famous people like Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, George Bush have already eaten there. There was a man like Aloe Blacc who made some live music. We never saw such a mess in a restaurant like there. The people freeked completely out. As Sindy began to stare a bit madly at a man, he turned to us and said, we don’t wanna piss you off this place. If it’s too much for you guys, don’t hesitate to come over and join our round… That’s the way these people are. Although it was such a crazy place with a sound level way above what’s allowed in Switzerland, we liked it and had a great meal.

By the way Fremont Street is a street in Las Vegas, and is the second most famous street in the Las Vegas Valley after the Las Vegas Strip. Named in honor of explorer John Charles Frémont and located in the heart of the downtown casino corridor, Fremont Street is (or was) the address for many famous casinos such as Binion's Horseshoe, Eldorado Club, Fremont Hotel and Casino, Golden Gate Hotel and Casino, Golden Nugget, The Mint, and the Pioneer Club.

Prior to the construction of the Fremont Street Experience, the western end of Fremont Street was the picture of Las Vegas that was included in virtually every televisioin show and movie that wanted to display the lights of Las Vegas. The abundance of neon signs, like cowboy Vegas Vic, earned the street the nickname of Glitter Gulch.

The time is flying and our days on the mainland of the U.S. is over. We are now ready to explore the beautiful State of Hawai’I and are already curious what will await us in the next two weeks.
